sectionheader ON-DEMAND: Rethinking Pledges to Promote Student and Young Alumni Giving

Overview:

Now is the time for your shop to build the structures necessary to insulate itself from future fundraising downturns. A strong student and young alumni philanthropy program can provide that protection. However, studies have shown that you will lose most of your shop's senior giving work and a wide percentage of your young donors unless you can keep those donors giving over several consecutive years following graduation.

This on-demand webcast will help you consider a fresh method of growing and retaining these student and young alumni donor numbers. You will be introduced to a non-traditional "no-amount" pledge-based program that achieved great success and how you can apply it to your institution. Specifically, you will learn:

  • The background and results of Maryville College's program
  • How Maryville's program differs from traditional pledge-based programs
  • How to:
    • Introduce the program from scratch
    • Use an existing senior gift committee and events to market the program
    • Handle the program's unique prospect objections
    • Retain members over time
    • Scale the program for a larger or decentralized shop

Target Audience:

Annual giving professionals charged with cultivating student and/or young alumni givers will learn how to re-approach the pledge concept to grow donor ranks and create a deep bench of future prospects.
