Who We Are
Academic
Impressions was founded by two students at the University of
Denver, Amit Mrig & JB DeVries. Their passion for higher
education first emerged with the formation of
campuscounselor.com, a portal aimed at helping high school
students make the right college choice based on both an
academic and social criteria. They later created Academic
Impressions as a way to pursue their interest in enrollment
management - an interest which soon grew to all areas in
academic administration. Their goal is simple - foster
meaningful dialogue. They wish to move away from a silo
approach of professional development and towards a truly
multi-disciplinary environment, effectively involving all
stakeholders in the complex factors that influence higher
education.
Our Vision
Academic Impressions
will foster an environment where the leading edge of higher
education
can be exhibited and pushed beyond itself. We are convinced
that the combination of collaboration and competition between
colleges will encourage institutions to offer the best
possible educational environments to their students,
professors and communities. Our interactive forums will
create a locus of dialog between all interested parties,
including administrators, implementation specialists, topical
experts, consultants and other professionals
By offering innovative
formatting,
Academic
Impressions creates an environment specially suited to
discussions about emerging trends in higher education.
Intensive classroom workshops help to focus discussions among
experts in a particular field, multidirectional online
training sessions and seminars enable long-distance
connections without the expense or time of travel and
conferences that stress substance over all other
considerations focus participants on exploring the issue at
hand in an otherwise unreachable depth.
In five years,
Academic
Impressions hopes to be in a position where it can facilitate
major positive change in the world of higher education. By
advocating active communication and focusing on detailed,
practical discussions directly applicable to institutional
change, Academic Impressions will function as a major forum
for collaborative methods capable of advancing the education
industry as a whole.
