Overview

Learn how to design and execute student philanthropy education events appropriate for your institution.

A strong student philanthropy program can help insulate your school from future fundraising downturns. Including day-long events — such as a “Tag Day” or a “Tuition Freedom Day” — in that program is an excellent way to educate students about diminishing state support for higher education and the widening gap between tuition and the actual cost of education.

Join us online to learn how to design and execute day-long programming appropriate for your institution. Using the student philanthropy events the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has developed as a model, you will learn:

How to make the case for your programming
What makes for meaningful day-long programming
How to make the most of your limited resources when planning for these programs
Ways to evaluate your success

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Advancement professionals charged with starting or growing a student philanthropy effort will learn how to create a Tuition Freedom Day that increases awareness, instills gratitude, and serves as a building block for a strategic program.

CFRE CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS

This webcast has been approved for continuing education credits toward the CFRE International application for initial certification and/or recertification.

Meg Petersen

Director, Young Alumni Giving

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Meg Petersen is the director of young alumni giving at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and has served as the interim director of student giving twice during her almost four years at the Carolina Annual Fund. She began her career as the assistant director of the annual fund for the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at UNC, after graduating with a degree in public relations from the school in 2007. Meg was the president of the Class of 2007 and helped to initiate the transition from a senior gift program to the current senior campaign model. The campaign model increased participation among graduating seniors from about 12 percent in 2006 to 48 percent in fiscal year 2011. Meg has presented on student and young alumni giving through CASE, as well as at the Carolinas Annual Fund Conference.
