Tyann Cherry
As senior online academic advisor at Webster University, Tyann works primarily with graduate students and coordinates workload and communications for a staff of full-time and adjunct advisors. Tyann is also an adjunct faculty member of the School of Communications. An expert in the field of online advising, she is the current chair of the Distance Education Advising Commission and sits on the Webinar Advisory Board for NACADA National Academic Advising Association.

Maria Lanza-Gladney
In her current position, Maria researches and implements new strategies to engage and support online students. Before coming to Drexel, she served as a counselor/coordinator at Salem Community College, working within a TRIO program assisting students who placed in developmental courses. She earned her M.S.Ed in higher education administration from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006. Prior to making the transition to higher education, Maria worked for three years in prevention and mentoring programs for children, teens, and parents at a nonprofit agency. She has presented at both regional and national conferences on advising and recently co-wrote an article for NACADA on taking the time to personalize and individualize advising for online students to help them feel more connected with the institution.

Jennifer Varney
Jen heads up the graduate advising department at Southern New Hampshire University, which uses the proactive advising model. She is also a member of the faculty at SNHU, where she teaches courses in organizational behavior and similar disciplines and is the chair of the Advising Adult Learner Commission for NACADA. She began her advising career working face-to-face with at-risk students. Her passion lies in working with adult students, and this passion fuels her desire to constantly improve her advising practices. Jen has also written on proactive advising for NACADA publications.
