Putting the "Learning" into Service-Learning Experiences for First-Year Students

Jen currently teaches at The Ohio State University, where she has taught an undergraduate leadership course using service learning. She previously worked for Ohio Campus Compact, a nonprofit coalition of Ohio colleges and universities that aims to educate students in civic responsibility. Her professional areas of interest and scholarship focus on critical and social justice frameworks applied to service learning, the scholarship of engagement, and building just and inclusive communities. In 2004, she was recognized with an Excellence in Teaching Award by The College of Education at OSU. She has also held a variety of student affairs positions at William and Mary, Grinnell College, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Case Western Reserve University, and The Ohio State University. Jen's doctoral dissertation focused on racially underrepresented college students' experiences in service learning.
