Learn how strategic audit-IT alliances can heighten campus awareness and tighten data security.

Internal audit and IT security officers have common interests in securing confidential and sensitive data, complying with regulations, and educating users about good practice. However, at most institutions, these two offices don't coordinate their efforts and thus are less effective than they could be if they coordinated or combined their respective resources and talents.

Join us online to learn how two Boston College officials created a partnership that has achieved security goals and raised campus-wide awareness about information policies and data management controls.

David Escalante

Director of Computer Policy and Security

Boston College

David is responsible for all data security matters at Boston College. He was nominated for the Information Security Executive of the Year award in 2005 and 2006, and he has spoken on security topics at the Campus Technology Conference, RSA Conference, EDUCAUSE/Internet2 Security Professionals Conference, and Network World IT Roadmap. Previously, he was director of professional services, Americas, for Baltimore Technology and manager of the Network Consulting group at Bolt Beranek & Newman, where he consulted with a variety of Fortune 500 companies on network and security issues.

Travis Looker

Assistant Director of Internal Audit

Boston College

Travis manages the day-to-day IT audit function for Boston College, serving on the college-wide Data Security and Emergency Management Committees to provide audit insight and expertise. He is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association's (ISACA) New England Chapter Board of Directors. Previously, he was a senior business consultant at the public accounting firm Grant Thornton LLP, performing internal and IT control evaluations for global Fortune 1000 companies.
