I coach academic leaders through the moments that test them most: stepping into new roles, leading through change, and redefining leadership they thought they had already mastered. My clients lead across the arc of their careers, from provosts, vice provosts, and deans to department chairs, program heads, interim leaders stepping into uncertainty, and emerging leaders growing into their potential. Whatever the seat, they navigate competing demands, difficult decisions, complex faculty and institutional dynamics, and the weight of leading well when the path forward isn’t clear. Through a collaborative coaching partnership, I help them access their own clarity, trust their instincts, and lead from what they know to be true.
I know that world from the inside. Across 30 years in higher education, I’ve served as a faculty member and senior administrator, including as a dean, a vice provost, and in numerous interim roles as Interim Director, Interim Associate Dean, and Interim Dean. Today, I partner with executive leadership on institutional strategy and the university’s most complex priorities, and I design programs that develop leaders from emerging talent to the senior ranks. I understand the political, financial, and human complexities my clients face, and the particular uncertainty of stepping into a transitional role, because I’ve navigated that myself.
My coaching helps leaders unlock the confidence that comes from leading in full alignment with who they truly are. By honoring core values and sharpening instinctive decision-making, my clients gain the clarity, presence, and inner strength to lead decisively, inspire others, and thrive under pressure. My particular expertise is guiding leaders through transition and change, strategic planning and execution, and the communication that holds it all together.
I am a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) and hold the Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential from the International Coaching Federation, grounding my work in a rigorous, ethical, and proven coaching methodology. I earned my PhD from Florida State University and have coauthored two widely used textbooks, including Strategic Sport Communication and Marketing for Sport Business Success. My career spans the highest levels of both higher education and competitive sport, and I use those perspectives to help leaders perform when the stakes are highest.
