Part 1: Establishing and Negotiating Goals for Your Lab
In this introductory section, you will learn how to approach and conduct a needs assessment to determine your greatest needs – for yourself and your lab. We will also address ways you can negotiate for those needs, including how to advocate for the right time, personnel, and financial support.
Part II: Managing Your Lab Successfully
Once you have identified your needs, you will want to ensure your needs are being met. In this section, you will be introduced to the key components for managing your lab effectively, including tips and strategies for time and resource management and delegation. You will also participate in activities that allow you to identify barriers that might prevent you from realizing your goals and brainstorm ways to remove or mitigate those barriers.
Part III: Assessing Your Success
As we conclude the webcast, you will discuss with your peers how you can maintain and monitor the goals you negotiated for yourself and your lab. You will walk away with a variety of ways you can measure your success, including some traditional and non-traditional methods.
