Key Questions to Produce Effective Data Visualizations

Last updated July 23, 2018

As a steward of data at your institution, you must interface with a variety of end-users, each of whom has unique goals, responsibilities, and needs. These variables impact how they will use and make decisions with the data visualizations you provide. The conversations you have early on with these stakeholders are critical in ensuring you can deliver data to them in the most relevant, impactful way. This webcast will provide an overview of how to frame conversations and ask better questions on the front-end to produce better results.

Who should attend?

This program is designed for enrollment data analysts, institutional research professionals, and other individuals who work on the front-end of enrollment data collection and analysis to create data visualizations for various institutional decision-makers. The webcast will be presented in a way that is applicable no matter what data visualization platform you use.

Our expert instructors, Doug Anderson and Bridgett Milner, will outline three sample conversations with individuals requesting data visualizations. Each conversation will differ based on the end-users’:

  • Role and institutional context;
  • Preferences for consuming the data;
  • And decisions that will be informed by the data.

Throughout the webcast, our expert instructors will provide you with techniques that will help you to provide clear and consistent data visualizations to all of your stakeholders.
