Academic Impressions’ Deans Success Program is designed to support new deans holistically as they learn new skills and navigate the complexities of their roles. Our intentionally designed experience combines conferences, discussion with peers, 1-on-1 executive coaching and a curated, self-paced training curriculum via Academic Impressions’ membership that will help new deans:
- Deepen their leadership skillset and toolsets.
- Navigate conflict successfully and productively.
- Build a high-performing senior team built around trust and psychological safety.
- Create an appetite for change.
- Break the pattern of zero-sum thinking and facilitate positive-sum conversations.
- Foster a proactive and collaborative leadership stance across faculty and staff.
- Better understand their role in the fundraising process, including how to partner with unit-based development officers.
The program is valued at $15,000 and can be completed within a 6-month or 12-month time frame. It includes:

Choose among any of Academic Impressions’ conference offerings, including the three below designed specifically for deans:
- Essential Leadership Skills for Deans (coming soon), which is perfect for those making a significant leadership leap into the deans' suite.
- Fundraising for Deans and Academic Leaders (coming soon), which is ideal for those who will have expectations for raising money and being more externally oriented.
- Strategy for Deans (coming soon), targeted at deans who need to advance a growth agenda (programs/enrollment, research, external partnerships, etc.).
1-on-1 executive coaching with an expert coach offering firsthand academic leadership experience in higher education, for real-time, on-the-ground integration of skills.
Includes content designed specifically for deans, associate/assistant deans, chairs, and faculty.
The additional licenses are designed to be shared with the dean’s senior team, and guidance is provided on how to use the resources to accelerate and enhance team building.
Discuss common challenges and learn alongside peers across the nation who are also participating in the program. Sessions will be held twice annually, once in the Spring and once in the Fall.
