Five Paths to Leadership℠ Self-Assessment Facilitation Certification Online Training

Online | October 16, 2024 1:00 pm ET - November 13, 2024 4:00 pm ET

Learn to facilitate this intuitive and powerful assessment for groups on your campus.

Become a certified practitioner of the Five Paths to Leadership℠ Self-Assessment and bring your expertise to your institution to both support individual learners and facilitate workshops with your campus.

The Five Paths to Leadership℠ Self-Assessment is being used by thousands of faculty and staff in higher education across North America. The magic of the Five Paths lies not just in deeper self-awareness, but also in its ability to enable more effective interpersonal and team dynamics. The assessment is unique and valuable because:

  1. It is designed to reflect that leaders must be adaptive—rather than getting fixed scores only on certain paths, the assessment recognizes that you have to lead from all of the paths to be effective.
  1. It is highly intuitive and practical, and it can be applied to a variety of leadership tasks, including running more effective meetings, communicating, collaborating, delegating, planning, and making more effective decisions.
  1. It reveals how your leadership style changes under stress.

Who should attend?

We invite anyone to become certified, and in particular, we encourage HR, faculty affairs, faculty, diversity officers, student affairs professionals, and others to consider this opportunity.

Note that certification is limited to using the assessment within an individual institution; certification does not allow you to facilitate public workshops where leaders from multiple institutions participate. This certification is achieved via an online program.

Certification Process
Attending this five-session workshop is your first step toward certification. Following the sessions, you will have:

  1. Access to three one-on-one coaching sessions with AI staff to provide just-in-time support to help you to prepare, design, and facilitate Five Paths trainings on your own campus.
  2. The ability to begin delivering workshops on your own campus. Participants will be required to rate your facilitation using an Academic Impressions evaluation form. To receive the certification, you must meet specific benchmarks in terms of your effectiveness (details to be shared in the online workshops).

Please note that certification enables you to facilitate Five Paths workshops for as many audiences as you’d like, at the organization of your current employment. Facilitation of the Five Paths to Leadership℠ workshops outside of your organization is expressly prohibited.

In this five-session workshop, you will do a deep dive into The Five Paths to Leadership℠ Self-Assessment, where you will learn:

  • The origin of the model.
  • The inner workings of how wisdom turns to shadow.
  • The design of the model, including how to understand each path, the tensions between them, and how fear and insecurity play into each path.
  • The scoring model, as well as how to help others interpret their scores.
  • The best practices to facilitate the session, including common scenarios and questions.
  • The most effective exercises to make the sessions interactive and applied.
  • The ways each path influences a person’s leadership, both individually and collectively.
  • The tensions within and across paths, and how to achieve dynamic balance.
  • To understand the dimensions of intersectionality in the Five Paths.

The sessions will be highly interactive and applied, and they will model the same activities that we recommend using when facilitating your own sessions. You will be asked to role play and practice delivering the material throughout the five sessions! Please note that you will be required to attend all five sessions in order to earn the certification.
Session 1 | Introductions and Overview
October 16, 2024, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. ET (3 hours)
In this first session, we’ll begin by discussing your own Five Paths to Leadership℠ scores and why you want to be certified. We will also demonstrate a Five Paths facilitation and situate the Five Paths to Leadership℠ Self-Assessment as a tool for personal effectiveness and leadership development. You will have the opportunity to begin reflecting on your own facilitation.

Session 2 | Understanding the Model
October 23, 2024, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. ET (3 hours)
During this session, we will dive deeper into how the Five Paths to Leadership℠ model works and how to begin facilitating the introduction to the model. You will practice by describing your highest and lowest paths with other participants.

Session 3 | Presenting Each Path
October 30, 2024, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. ET (3 hours)
As we continue with practice, you will have the opportunity in groups to break down a path that is neither your highest nor your lowest path. You will lead the whole group through a presentation of that path and have time to reflect on how to facilitate that path.

Session 4 | Understanding the Sage and Balancing the Paths
November 6, 2024, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. ET (3 hours)
In this session, we will dive deeper into what the path of the Sage means and how to facilitate this part of the Five Paths to Leadership℠. Additionally, we will debrief full sets of scores to demonstrate how to engage in a questioning process throughout this piece of the facilitation. Finally, you will break down how your paths are balanced and are in tension with one another.

Session 5 | Practicing the Five Paths to Leadership℠
November 13, 2024, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. ET (3 hours)
During our final session together, you will work in groups to facilitate a full Five Paths to Leadership℠ session with Academic Impressions coaches to help guide you. You will also learn more about the process for certification and the limitations on it.

“This was an insightful, helpful, and extremely useful conference. There were plenty of opportunities for practice facilitation, tips on strengthening our facilitation, and time to ask questions. This assessment is a very valuable tool for the workplace, maximizing workplace efficiency, and building stronger relationships. A great perk was building relationships with the other attendees. All leadership teams should use this assessment!”

“I highly recommend this certification program! The Five Paths Assessment gives great insight into why we lead the way we do. I’m excited to bring this tool to the University of Texas at Dallas!”

“This workshop was the best training I have ever attended. The high-level conversions, individualized data, as well as creating safe spaces for articulate experts to present to inspired participants. The content, delivery, location, and esteemed cohort was confidence inspiring. Thank you for showing just enough vulnerability to make me a “believer” and not just a certified presenter.”
