Gene Luna
Dr. Luna currently serves as associate vice president for student affairs and academic support at the University of South Carolina. He also holds a clinical faculty appointment in the College of Education and teaches in the higher education and student affairs administration graduate programs. Gene has direct responsibility for the student success center and early intervention programs, housing and residence education, student conduct, academic integrity, national student exchange, student health center, counseling center, student disability services, sexual health and violence prevention, student engagement, and a campus initiative to promote health and wellness called Healthy Carolina. He has been extensively involved with the redesign of the general education requirements for students and was co-author of a proposal adopted as the university’s Quality Enhancement Program within its recent SACS re-accreditation. Gene has published more than 30 articles and recently edited a monograph titled Learning Initiatives in the Residential Environment.
