Ken Halpin

Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics, Winthrop University

Since Ken’s arrival at Winthrop in July 2016, Winthrop Athletics has launched a 7-year strategic plan titled Drive to ’25. Through the successful launch and implementation of this plan, the Department of Athletics has continued experiencing all-time highs every year in the metrics laid out in their plan – including student-athlete GPA, student-athlete graduation rates, competitive excellence, fundraising, sponsorship, and ticket sales.

In addition to his role at Winthrop University, Ken is a member of the Division I Council and has taught several academic courses for Winthrop. Prior to Winthrop, he was the Deputy Athletics Director at Eastern Washington University. He received a Ph.D. in education from Washington State University in 2015 and an M.A. in sport administration from Gonzaga University in 2008, where he also taught as an adjunct professor in the sport management program for seven years. He earned a B.A. from Willamette University in 2005.
