M. Lynn Breyfogle

Associate Dean in the College of Arts & Sciences

Dr. Lynn Breyfogle, Associate Dean in the College of Arts & Sciences, has more than 15 years of higher education experience. She earned a Bachelors in Mathematics from Hope College in Holland, MI. After teaching high school mathematics for six years in Michigan and Wyoming, she earned a Master’s and PhD in Mathematics Education at Western Michigan University. Her teaching appointment at Bucknell included all mathematics teacher education courses for K-5 certification, secondary mathematics methods for 7-12 certification, and introductory level Calculus. She earned tenure and full professor rank in the mathematics department at Bucknell University.

In her current position, she serves as the academic associate dean for all first- and second-year students in the College of Arts & Sciences, where she has primary responsibility for all academic matters related to students including academic advising, retention, and overseeing the implementation of the general education curriculum. Dr. Breyfogle is a Co-PI for a National Science Foundation STEP grant called STEM Scholars, which supports a cohort of entering first-year students to work with a research mentor for 5-weeks in the summer before matriculating and then a second 10-week summer research in a later summer. The intent of the grant is to attract and retain typically underrepresented students in the STEM fields.
