As the director of sustainability integration at Middlebury College, Jack coordinates Middlebury’s effort to achieve carbon neutrality by 2016. Jack’s prior career has been in the non-governmental sector starting and developing organizations that support local, national, and international initiatives in soil and water conservation; watershed health; citizen science; and building capacity to integrate sustainability knowledge and skills in public schools, corporations, and nonprofit organizations. He has led the development of learning networks and communities on a variety of topics. He is a co-founder of Foundation for Our Future. He founded and directed the River Watch Network. He currently serves as green campus leader for the International Union for the Conservation of Nature’s Commission on Education and Communication.
Amy is associate dean for faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences and professor of English and Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. As an associate dean, Amy is responsible for faculty recruitment, hiring, reappointment, promotion and tenure, and merit reviews. From 2005-08 she served as associate dean for academic programs where she oversaw curriculum, faculty development, general education, and program assessment. In addition to having authored two books, Making Teaching and Learning Visible: Course Portfolios and the Peer Review of Teaching and Inquiry into the College Classroom: A Journey Toward Scholarly Teaching, Amy and Paul co-coordinate the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Peer Review of Teaching Project, a program to help faculty capture and document the intellectual work of their teaching. In 2005, this project was one of three faculty development programs nationwide to receive a TIAA-CREF Hesburgh Award Certificate for Excellence in recognition of an exceptional faculty development program designed to enhance undergraduate student achievement.
Andy is a consultant, speaker and author on topics related to education with more than 26 years of experience in the field. Prior to joining GG+A, he served as Associate Vice President for Advancement at Carnegie Mellon University. He has also worked at Brown University (his undergraduate alma mater), at the University of Michigan, and at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). Andy is the founder of the website alumnifutures.com, which he launched in 2007 as the first website specifically for alumni relations professionals. He served as a CASE Trustee and he was a member of the CASE Commission on Alumni Relations for six years, serving as chairman for three years. He has also taught, consulted, and published around the globe. Andy earned a master’s degree in education from Claremont Graduate University, and is active on Twitter as @alumnifutures.
Darrow oversees all aspects of Rice’s fundraising, alumni affairs and development services functions. Prior to his current role, he served the institution as an associate vice president in charge of individual fundraising programs and capital campaign strategy. Before arriving at Rice, Darrow was a managing director with Marts & Lundy, leading the firm as a campaign consultant, head of its “Digital Solutions” practice, and member of its planned giving practice group. Previously, he was executive director for strategic planning and marketing strategy at the University of Texas at Austin, where he facilitated the design and implementation of the University’s advanced development strategies and played a key role in planning the University’s successful $1 billion comprehensive campaign. Before coming to Austin, Darrow was director of planned giving and director of research and systems at the Stern School of Business at New York University. A Ph.D. in economic anthropology, he is a past Fulbright scholar, National Science Foundation fellow, and Social Sciences Research Council post-doctoral fellow.
Devin T. Mathias has recently joined Grenzebach Glier and Associates as vice president of benchmarking, philanthropic analytics. Prior to joining GG+A, Devin spent over nine years in the development field, most recently as director of annual giving at the University of Michigan. In his role at Michigan, he oversaw the central annual giving team, providing service to over 20 schools, colleges, campuses, and units. Before joining Michigan, Devin spent over five years with the University of Florida Foundation, most recently as director of The Florida Fund, UF’s annual giving programs. Prior to coming to Florida, he worked with Penn State’s annual giving program and Affinity Connection, a private alumni and constituents’ relations firm. His first leadership role in philanthropy was as an undergraduate student with Penn State’s Dance Marathon, the largest student-run philanthropy in the world. Devin recently completed his tenure as chair of the Annual Giving Directors’ Consortium. He also founded the Southeastern Student Development Forum, the SEC Annual Fund Conference, and the SEC Challenge, modeled after the Big Ten Challenge. Julie is responsible for communicating the University of Chicago’s distinctive achievements locally, nationally, and internationally. She serves as a member of the leadership cabinet and advises the president and other senior officers on a broad range of internal and external communications. Before joining the University of Chicago, Julie served in a variety of capacities at the University of Michigan, where she was involved in the university’s defense of its admissions policies, managing all of the media and web communications leading up to and immediately following the Supreme Court rulings in June 2003
Following completion of an MA in community counseling at UNC Charlotte, Kelly joined the UNC Charlotte Office of Adult Students and Evening Services, where she coordinates the 49er Finish Program, a program to encourage and assist former UNC Charlotte students to return and complete their degree. Kelly advises adult and nontraditional students on general education requirements, working with students to establish career, educational, and personal goals and chart a course to achievement. Kelly is involved in planning the North Carolina Adult Education Association and NACADA Region 3 conferences, and has recently completed Distance Credentialed Counselor certification and Strong Interest Inventory certification.
Douglas directs energy-focused consulting and design services for commercial, industrial, and institutional clients. His 30 years of experience with Black & Veatch covers complex retrofit projects as well as new facilities, including projects for energy use and conservation, primary and standby power generation, cogeneration, mission critical facilities, central utility generation and distribution, and critical HVAC systems. Douglas also has experience in facilities design, including computer data centers, central utility plants, pharmaceutical manufacturing, research laboratories, medical product/device manufacturing, micro-electronics wafer fabrication, and government facilities. He holds a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University.
