Carlos Guillen

Carlos Guillen draws on over 10 years of professional experience in higher education in his role at the University of Washington in Seattle. In his current role, Carlos provides leadership to a department charged with the successful transition of over 8,000 first year students. Carlos earned his Master of Science in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Colorado State University and Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Mexico. In addition to his work with first year students, Carlos’ experience includes curriculum development, equity and diversity, parent orientation, and assessment in higher education.

Dawn Coder

Dr. Dawn Coder has over fourteen years’ experience in the field of higher education and online learning in both public and private institutions, and fourteen years’ experience in a leadership role. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Penn State, a Master’s degree from Penn State in Adult Education and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Liberty University. She has four published articles in NACADA’s Academic Advising Today. She has presented at professional conferences including NACADA, UPCEA, Madison-Wisconsin’s Distance Learning and Teaching, Hendrick, and Noel Levitz. Dawn was the recipient of NACADA Region 2’s Advising Administrator award and received an Advising Administrator Certificate of Merit from NACADA’s Annual Award Nominations. Her team has won several awards under her leadership including an Effective Practice Award from the Online Learning Consortium, The Partnership Award from UPCEA, and NACADA’s Advising Technology Innovation Award.

Susan Haarman

Susan Haarman hails from Louisville, KY, but has lived in Milwaukee, Texas, Berkeley, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and the fine city of Chicago. She serves as the Associate Director of the Center for Experiential Learning at Loyola University Chicago, where she runs their service-learning program and faculty development programs. Susan holds a Masters in Divinity from the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley and a Masters in Community Counseling from Loyola University Chicago. She has been working in higher education for almost 15 years. Susan specializes in critical reflection practices and ethical engagement practices especially within the realm of community-based learning and short-term service immersions. Previous to joining the CEL team, she served as the Faith and Justice Campus Minister, primarily in charge of the Alternative Break Immersion program. Susan is passionate about Jesuit education, community-based learning, and asking the big questions of how a university seeks to transform the social reality it also participates in. She is an improviser and practicing therapist.

Matt Manfra

With more than 20 years of higher education experience, Matt has served as advancement vice president on two occasions and chief alumni officer at four institutions. In his current role at Georgian Court University (Lakewood, NJ), he provides oversight regarding all matters related to fundraising, alumni engagement, special events and the university’s professional studies program. Prior to joining Georgian Court, Matt was the interim vice president for development and alumni relations at the George Washington University, where he led the team that completed their $1 billion campaign, the largest in their history, one year ahead of schedule. Matt has also served in advancement leadership positions at Syracuse University, Rutgers University, the University of Northern Colorado, and at his alma mater, the College of New Jersey.

Anita Kite

As a leadership coach, team coach, and group facilitator, Anita helps clients identify and sidestep many of the inner gremlins that keep them from achieving their goals. Think of her as your thought partner who, through powerful questions, helps you identify your roadblocks and explore your limiting beliefs. She often leverages humor to prompt self-reflection and create a supportive space in which clients are encouraged to practice new behaviors and take safe risks. Carina Vocisano, PhD

Helping academic leaders focus on the stuff that really matters.  Work less, work more effectively, experience more joy. Carina Vocisano, PhD has extensive experience in creating change as an academic leadership coach. She draws on evidence-based approaches to leadership coaching including mindfulness-based stress reduction, positive psychology, and organizational psychology. A core assumption of Carina’s approach to leadership coaching is that positive emotional experiences provide academic leaders with important resources they need in order to confront the challenges they encounter at work. Allison DiBianca Fasoli, PhD

Allison DiBianca Fasoli, Ph.D. is a group coach who coaches faculty around writing, research, and career decisions. Allison is a former faculty member in psychology and a nationally funded (e.g., NSF, Spencer Foundation) mixed- methods researcher who has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals. Drawing on her expertise in psychology, Allison’s coaching process is informed by decades of researching and teaching about learning processes, motivation, group dynamics, decision-making, self-concepts and identity, and theories of human growth and development. Jill Johns, DrPH

As a certified professional coach, Jill began working with executives, leaders and front line managers in a corporate capacity in 2010 in conjunction with leadership development training programs. She has built a thriving coaching and consulting practice in Statesboro, GA with clients spanning across the US. Michael Reynolds

Mike primarily supports the array of degrees offered through the School of Education, as well as MFA programs in Creative Writing and a Master’s in Legal Studies. His enthusiasm for institutional service has led him into the directorship of Hamline’s Collaborative Research program, co-directorship of the Race, Gender, and Beyond faculty development program, and membership (and chair duties) on a range of College and University committees — as well as two stints as Associate Dean and one as Associate Provost. Mike Reynolds received his B.A. from St. Lawrence University in 1989 and his Ph.D. from the University of Southern California in 2000 (in English).

Marcela Kostihova

As Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, Dr. Kostihova establishes the College’s academic priorities, oversees resource allocation, and coordinates strategic and long-range planning, as well as the day to day work with recruitment and development of faculty and staff. She’s co-directed Hamline’s Collaborative Research Program, and served as Associate Dean prior to her appointment as Dean. As Dean, she’s led administrative restructuring of new College units, collaborated with faculty on two holistic program reviews and subsequent implementation, facilitated future-oriented strategic planning, and led general curriculum reinvigoration.
