Paul Hofmann
Dr. Paul Hofmann has served as the AVP for International Affairs at Fresno State since July 2012 and has more than 20 years experience in international education. From 2005-2012 he was the director of the Center for International Programs at Bowling Green State University where he had broad administrative oversight of international recruitment and admissions, international student and scholar services, the campus-based intensive English program, and study abroad. From 2003-2005, Hofmann served as the SEVIS Compliance Coordinator at San José State University. Prior to transitioning into higher education, Hofmann worked in the proprietary intensive English program sector. From 1996-2003 he served as Center Director of FLS Language Centers in Alhambra, California where he was responsible for delivering a comprehensive English language program to international students aspiring to gain admission into American colleges and universities.
Dr. Hofmann has an extensive background in China and Asia. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Adrian College, a Master’s in Political Science from the University of Toledo, a Master’s in Higher Education from San José State University, and a Doctorate in Higher Education from Bowling Green State University. He has taught classes in Political Science, American Culture Studies, Higher Education Administration, and has served as a trainer for NAFSA and the NAFSA Academy. His academic research interests include the effects of acculturative stress experienced by international and study abroad students.
