Shelley Alkin
Shelley has worked in higher education for the past twenty-six years. She began her career at Mercy College as director of academic advising, and later became the dean for transfer and articulation. In that role she was responsible for facilitating articulation agreements between Mercy College and its feeder schools, especially the community colleges in the CUNY and SUNY systems. In addition, she oversaw the creation and maintenance of a transfer database that includes over 20,000 course entries from approximately 50 different schools and their Mercy College equivalent.
Currently, she is an activity director of a Title V Step Up to STEM grant in partnership with Borough of Manhattan Community College. Shelley is a graduate of the University of Bridgeport and has Master’s degrees in both Education and Counseling from Long Island University.
