Tawnya Means

Tawnya has been heavily involved in the research, design, renovation, and support for teaching of four university active learning space projects including single classroom and new building. Her project portfolio includes:

University of Florida, 9+ years as the Director of Center for Teaching and Learning

  • Warrington College of Business Active Learning Studio – a single classroom renovation project, designed to support teaching with teams that include in-person and remote participants, proposed in February 2011, phased development, and completed renovations for Spring 2013.
  • Hough Hall was built to house the Hough Graduate School in the Warrington College of Business – a new building project with a variety of spaces such as flexible learning spaces, case teaching rooms, and cluster collaboration classrooms. Construction began December 2008; the building opened to classes Summer 2010.
  • Heavener Hall was built to house the Undergraduate School of Business – a new building project, with a variety of formal and informal learning spaces, flexible classrooms, cluster and collaboration classrooms, and lecture spaces. Construction began in summer 2013;, the building opened to classes Fall 2014.

University of Nebraska College of Business

  • Howard L. Hawks Hall was built to house the College of Business – new building project, with a Teaching and Learning Center, formal and informal learning spaces, case and cluster classrooms, flexible spaces, and technology for interaction and engagement. The staff in the Teaching and Learning Center actively work with faculty to develop pedagogies and strategies for engaging students in active learning. Construction began December 2014; the building opened to classes Fall 2017.
