Steven Riccio, Ed.D., SPHR, PCC
Steve is a leadership and faculty coach supporting clients to discover greater meaning, both personally and professionally. His purpose statement is “Serving individuals and teams to lead healthier, more purposeful lives.” He does this using a holistic approach to his coaching to help clients develop “an ideal future state” that aligns their passions, skills, and interests for the greater good. Steve incorporates his values of trust, proactivity, positivity, and service in his coaching to support individuals to remove obstacles and take action to serve others.
Steve’s clients refer to him as a partner in the coaching process who strikes a balance between being empathetic and holding others accountable. Steve coaches on a variety of topics which includes time management, goal setting, conflict management, and team development. He is also a firm believer that if we do not first take care of ourselves, we cannot adequately serve others. Therefore, he regularly works with clients to incorporate self-care strategies to be able to work in an optimal state.
Steve is a lecturer in the International Business & Management department at Dickinson College and his academic interests include Human Resource Management, Organizational and Team Behavior, and Business Ethics. He is also the founder of Riccio Coaching & Consulting, an advisory firm that collaborates with leaders and teams to promote engagement in the workplace.
Prior to teaching, Steve served as the Associate Vice President of Human Resources at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania where his focus was on developing talent and creating stronger engagement among faculty and staff. Before coming to Dickinson, Steve worked for ten years as a human resource and change management consultant with clients ranging from Fortune 500 to state and local non-profit organizations.
Steve earned his doctoral degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Educational Leadership in Higher Education. He has 600 hours of coaching experience and holds the Professional Certified Coach (CPC) credential through the International Coach Federation (ICF). Steve completed his coach training through the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC). In addition, he earned the Senior Professional of Human Resource (SPHR) certification through the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Steve has facilitated leadership and team development programs throughout the country and is a certified facilitator of DiSC, Crucial Conversations, Crucial Accountability, and The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
