Overview

"Now what?" is the question many mid-career faculty ask themselves, whether they are post-tenure or career faculty who have settled into their role and learned the ins and outs of faculty life at their institution. Increased service and leadership demands, plus waning institutional support, often leave mid-career faculty stuck in a cycle of busyness with little to no opportunity for reflection on, or even celebration of, their career milestones. What faculty at this stage often need is the space, support, and community to reevaluate and realign their career paths with their new experiences. This program will help you to design an intentional and strategic pathway through your mid-career by:

  • Familiarizing you with the literature on the mid-career stage.
  • Guiding you through reflection activities that help you take stock of where you are now, and where you want to go.
  • Sharing the journeys and stories of other mid- and late-career faculty.
  • Helping to you map a plan that aligns your values and well-being with your career trajectory.
  • Preparing you for the inevitable detours and disruptions that will arise along your career journey.

Too often as faculty, you're asked to prioritize others’ goals before your own professional development. Take the time to prioritize your own growth and well-being: join our Fall 2024 cohort.

  • Fall 2024 Cohort starts September 23, 2024

Who Will Benefit

Faculty at the mid-career stage—those who have been in their role for 5-7 years—whether tenure-track or career (non-tenure track) faculty, will benefit from this course. You will get the most out of this course if you are able to:

  • Direct your own learning through asynchronous content and guided reflection.
  • Invest the allotted time in the course (see the agenda below for the estimated time commitment).
  • Check-in weekly to review course emails and lesson content.
  • Participate in a community of peers who are also on their own mid-career journeys.

How it Works

Create the space for your development and growth by participating in our cohort-based program over 9 weeks (about 2 months). Each week, you will have approximately one hour of asynchronous work that can be completed based on your schedule. You can also attend optional live discussions to process, reflect, and engage in dialogue with fellow mid-career faculty. You will:

Receive weekly emails with on-demand videos and activities that can be completed over the course of a week.

Complete a workbook to use as your guide going forward in your mid-career journey.

Attend optional facilitated discussions to participate in a community of faculty peers who are also at the mid-career juncture.

Hurry! The Next Cohort Starts September 23, 2024.
