Defining Your Conflict Style: Determining the Best Approach to Resolution

Defining Your Conflict Style: Determining the Best Approach to Resolution

This event has been canceled

Learn and develop five approaches for effectively managing conflict.

Overview

Navigating conflict continues to be challenging in the workplace: research suggests that up to 30% of a supervisor’s time can be spent on managing conflict with or among peers, direct reports, and bosses. This program is designed to provide supervisors with a) a deeper understanding of their preferred approaches to managing conflict, and b) additional tools they can use to navigate conflict more effectively.

How It Works – This Highly Personalized Experience Is Comprised of Three Component Parts

  1. Conflict Styles Assessment. First, you will complete the Kraybill “Style Matters” Conflict Style Inventory. You will receive a written report that provides an in-depth understanding of your preferred approach to conflict.
  2. Online Session. After completing the assessment, you will then attend a two-hour online session on Monday, June 5, 2023, designed to provide an overview of the five approaches to conflict.
  3. Supervision Coaching. Next, you will be assigned a “supervision coach” who is well versed in this content. You will complete three hour-long one-on-one coaching sessions within the span of one month. Your coach will not only help you to understand your preferred conflict style more deeply but will also provide insight into how you can expand your toolkit and use additional approaches to mitigate conflict.

What is supervision coaching?

Supervision coaching is designed to help enhance or overcome any limiting beliefs or “stuckness” you may face and support the day-to-day implementation of the new skills you have gained during the training session.

Comprised of three hour-long coaching calls over a one-month timeframe, supervision coaching provides an opportunity to apply and integrate the skills presented during the training program. Our coaches—who are themselves experts in higher education with agility in the supervision skillset—are trained to meet you where you are and help you implement the training you’ve received in your everyday work practices. In this way, coaching allows you to extend your learning even further to really make it “stick.”

Who Should Attend

This program has been designed for aspiring, new, and seasoned supervisors interested in expanding their knowledge base and approaches to various conflicts that occur in the workplace.
