Instructors
Donnie McGovern, Director, UC Center for Pathways Advising and Student Success, University of Cincinnati
Donnie began his career in higher education 21 years ago at Valencia Community College in Orlando FL, serving in administrative roles in Academic Advising, Student Development, Orientation, and Postsecondary Transition. At UC he served as Assistant Director of the Transfer Center, Director of the Center for Exploratory Studies, and project manager for the Starfish Early Alert pilot. He is currently the Director of the Center for Pathways Advising and Student Success, primarily charged with advising Transfer, Transition, and Non-Matriculated students. He has presented nationally at National Academic Advising Association (NACADA), the Noel-Levitz Conference on Student Retention (NISTS), and several local and state wide conferences.
Tara Warden, Assistant Vice Provost for Advising & Academic Services, University of Cincinnati
Tara Stopfel Warden specializes in leadership and program design in advising and enrollment management. Tara was the founding director of UC’s Center for Exploratory Studies, selected as a national exemplary practice program in 2007 for supporting students through major selection. She established the university’s Office of Advising & Academic Services in 2014. In 2016, she designed UC’s new Center for Pathways Advising & Student Success, housing transfer/transition advising, early alert and retention outreach, and advisor training & development. Her work at universities in Ohio, Tennessee, and Texas has included service as Associate Dean of Students, Assistant Dean for Arts & Sciences, Director of Career Development, and Director of Residence Life.
Tara served on the faculty for the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) Administrators Institute in 2018. Tara is a recipient of the Marian Spencer Diversity Ambassador Award and the Barbara Schooley Award for outstanding contributions to the UC advising community. She is also a graduate of the Higher Education Resource Services (HERS) Institute.
