Intentionally Build Your Executive Presence

Last updated August 1, 2022

Amplify your executive presence across three key dimensions of interpersonal interaction.

Overview

Executive presence is an amalgamation of your emotional, aesthetic, and communication behaviors, and it influences your ability to successfully grow as a leader. While your accomplishments, expertise, and experience are the bedrock of your career, building skills to enhance your executive presence can further support your professional reputation and growth.

This workshop will help you to identify strategies to enhance three facets of your executive presence and build them into your daily routine. Through a mix of reflection, discussion, and content delivery, we’ll explore questions like:

  • How do you navigate challenging situations, considering your internal emotional response as well as how you express those emotions outwardly?
  • Does your communication style—both verbal and written—convey both your expertise and your emotional intelligence?
  • Do your actions align with the leadership qualities you wish others to experience when working with you?

Who should attend?

This workshop is designed for higher education leaders from mid-level (Deans and Directors) and above. Those within or aspiring to the C-suite (Vice Presidents, Provosts, Presidents, and Chancellors) will also find benefit.

Agenda

October 26, 2022

1:00 – 3:00 p.m. ET

Emotional Presence

Leaders are no strangers to emotionally charged situations. While we may naturally experience strong internal emotional responses, it’s important to be mindful of how we express them outwardly. Here, we’ll explore how to become more mindful of your emotional presence and its impact on others.

Communication Presence

In addition to your emotional presence, the presence you provide in your communication also shapes how others experience your leadership. During this portion of the training, we’ll discuss how to ensure that your communication is effective and an accurate reflection of your knowledge and emotional intelligence.

Aesthetic Presence

While there is no one right way to be a leader, and certainly no one single way to look like one, in this section you’ll learn how to ensure that you’re projecting your authentic leadership style outwardly. Our speaker will share an Executive Presence Toolkit to help you to thoughtfully compose your aesthetic presence in a way that reflects your leadership style.
