Roundtable for Leaders of Talent Development in Advancement: A Cohort-Based Series

A COHORT-BASED SERIES

Roundtable for Leaders of Talent Development in Advancement

Hybrid Event Taking Place in Denver and Online

February 24 – May 19, 2023

Engage with a cohort of advancement-specific talent development leaders to explore common issues and challenges you face and share current practices that will help you to build your leadership capacity.

Overview

Leaders of talent development in advancement often have a lion’s share of responsibilities with just one primary aspect of their role: identifying and mobilizing talent for their teams. However, they are often pulled in many other directions as well, including managing internal processes related to talent development and training efforts while also feeling the weight of “The Great Resignation” and hybrid work needs. This is a unique and challenging time for them to perform these leadership roles given the impact COVID-19 has had on the workforce especially while also managing candidate, staff, and supervisor expectations. However, while this role is complex and demanding, many talent development leaders find great reward and fulfillment in engaging and developing staff, mapping appropriate career paths based on competencies, and filling open positions with candidates who will grow and flourish in the role.

There’s no greater form of ongoing support than the support gained from joining a community of leaders who serve in similar roles. By joining this roundtable, you will have the opportunity to discuss common challenges, get support from experienced peers and your designated facilitator, and build your network. In this cohort-based experience, you will:

  • Engage in discussion focused on timely topics and challenges you’re facing in a small, cohort-based, and confidential environment.
  • Build community with other talent development leaders and expand your professional network.
  • Learn from peers and exchange institution-specific practices and strategies.
  • Come away with a crowd-sourced repository of templates, sample language, and other resources that you can refer to and use to inform your future work.

To preserve an intimate and productive experience, the roundtable will be capped at 12 attendees.

Who Should Attend

This group engagement is specifically designed for leaders of talent development in advancement who provide oversight over one or more of the following:

  • Responsible for retention and recruitment of staff
  • Leading training and staff development efforts
  • Identifying career development pathways for roles and units

Leaders of talent development in advancement from all institutional types and sizes are invited to attend.

How Roundtables Work

The goal of our roundtables is to bring together a small cohort of peers for a comprehensive learning and networking experience. Through short, regular live meetings, you will come together with a maximum of eleven other peers and our expert facilitator in order to:

  • Build strong connections and expand your network.
  • Try new tactics and approaches to improve your leadership.
  • Share your own best practices and listen to those of others.
  • Carve out time for reflection.
  • Be part of a cohort-based support community.
  • Contribute to the conversation with your own thought leadership.

What is the time commitment?

The cohort will meet seven times on Fridays from March to May. Each meeting runs for one hour except for the first event, which will be in person in Denver, Colorado. Participants may be asked to read light, relevant materials in advance of some sessions.
