Encore and Live Q&A: Conflict Management: A Practical Workshop for Leaders

Last updated February 27, 2023

Gain confidence in your ability to respond to conflicts in their earliest stages.

Learn the strategies to help you effectively manage and respond to various conflicts within your department or institution. You will be introduced to practical tools that address conflict in its earliest stages before it becomes a formal dispute. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to resolving conflicts. That’s why our expert instructor will present numerous scenarios and discuss the use of framing, facilitation, and other dispute-resolution tools to help you:

  • Improve and sustain a healthy working environment.
  • Build rapport among colleagues.
  • Increase faculty and staff morale.

Who should attend?

We welcome any/all academic department chairs who wish to:

  • Overcome personal barriers related to conflict management.
  • Build upon and enhance your existing conflict management skills.

  • Part 1: Building Your Conflict Strategy Map

We’ll begin by learning how to build a Conflict Strategy Map, where our speaker will walk you through how to identify and better understand the details around:

      • What the conflict is about.
      • Who is engaged in the conflict.
      • The context, others’ perspectives, and special circumstances.

    • Part 2: Building Your Action Plan

After mapping out your conflict, we’ll discuss conflict management strategies, and then you’ll learn how to create an action plan to address your conflict. This plan will help you to strategize the details around action, timing, and communication.

2:00 – 3:00 p.m. | 60 mins | Engage in a Live Q&A with Jeanne Hey

Please join us after the recorded training for a live discussion session with the presenter, Jeanne Hey. You’ll have the chance to identify a conflict in your work life and practice using the conflict strategy map, while also getting the chance to engage with Jeanne to ask questions and get additional guidance on how to use the conflict strategy map.
