Charles Forrest
Charles has more than 30 years of experience in academic and research libraries. Since 1988, he has held a series of administrative positions in the Emory Libraries including director of instructional support services, director of planning and budget, and director of library facilities. Charles has served as library project manager for numerous construction and renovation projects, including the Center for Library and Information Resources, an addition to Emory’s main library. A member of the Committee on the Environment of Emory’s university senate, Charles served as library project manager for the renovation of the Asa Griggs Candler Library, the first LEED-certified renovation project on campus.

Sandra Parsons Vicchio, AIA
Sandra has over 20 years of experience in all phases of architecture, including programming, design, documentation, construction, and interior design. During the past decade, she has focused on the architecture of libraries, museums, and visitor centers, which preserve and provide access to our cultural record and support academic and lifelong learning. She has served as faculty for the Academic Impressions library planning institute in 2008, 2009, and 2010. She is currently leading teams for the The National Library for the Study of George Washington at Mount Vernon, renovations to The Enoch Pratt Free Library’s historic central building in Baltimore, and an academic library renovation. She completed three library planning initiatives earlier this year. Sandra has spoken about library and cultural facilities at national meetings for both the American Association of Museums and the American Library Association.

Wes Boomgaarden
Wes was the library’s project officer for the $109 million William Oxley Thompson Library renovation effort from 2000 through its completion in 2009. He has served at Ohio State since 1984 and has also held positions at the New York Public Library, the Minnesota Historical Society, and Macalester College. Wes has been published widely in the literature of preservation of library materials, and he serves as an adjunct professor in the Kent State University School of Library and Information Science.

David Lindahl
David is a computer scientist with over 16 years of experience applying a unique ethnography-based methodology for uncovering and addressing the unmet needs of researchers, undergraduates, librarians, and office workers, using in-context observations, interviews, cultural probes, and collaborative design activities. He has held positions at the Xerox PARC Research Center, the University of Rochester Libraries, and the (open-source software producing) eXtensible Catalog Organization. David is a successful grant writer with over $1 million in funding from IMLS and the Mellon Foundation, and an experienced presenter at venues including the Library of Congress, CNI, ALA, LITA, Access, and the National Library of Australia. In 2010, David was recognized as one of a group of librarians shaping the future of libraries and as an innovator who is focused upon serving user needs with a “Movers and Shakers Award” from Library Journal.

Registration Fee Includes:
