Overview

Are your student leadership program learning outcomes measurable and quantifiable?

Writing and assessing learning outcomes is an ongoing challenge for student affairs professionals. Learning outcomes are increasingly required by accrediting organizations, but student affairs professionals largely lack training on writing comprehensive and quantitative outcomes that lead to clear assessment measurements. Join Academic Impressions in this archived webcast to learn about a model that can be used across student affairs to develop learning outcomes for a variety of student leadership programs. Participants will have access to sample learning outcomes and guidelines for applying them to their own institution.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Student affairs professionals responsible for orientation, first-year student experience, peer mentor, and student leadership programs, as well as academic leaders involved in student leadership programs, will benefit from this program. Please note that this program is specifically designed for institutions with minimal experience drafting and assessing learning outcomes, or institutions looking to completely redevelop their procedure for drafting and assessing learning outcomes.

Instructors

Erik Range

Consultant

Erik Range has presented at several national conferences on topics surrounding retention of at-risk populations, the first-year experience for minority males, and the benefits of summer bridge programs in retaining students of color. Erik has been the assistant director of the Upward Bound program at the University of Miami and, more recently, worked as the coordinator in the Multicultural Academic and Support Services Program at the University of Central Florida. At UCF, he assisted in the development of a newly funded Upward Bound program. He also coordinated UCF's Brother to Brother and Seizing Opportunities for Achievement and Retention programs. Both programs assist students from multicultural, first-generation, and low-income backgrounds in navigating through the collegiate experience.
