Advanced Supervision Certificate - April Cohort
Live Sessions April 10 & May 8, 12:30 - 1:00 p.m. ET | April 6, 2026 2:00 am ET - June 26, 2026 11:59 pm ET
Build the confidence, tools, and perspective to lead teams that advance your institution’s mission.
Event Information
Welcome to the April 2026 cohort of the Advanced Supervision Certificate. Our goal is to help you to develop your supervisor toolkit and grow in your confidence and ability to positively and effectively develop team members who can contribute to your institution’s goals and mission.
Our offerings are based on the premise that the most important elements in a supervisor’s leadership and organizational development include understanding the best practices, taking space to practice and reflect, and taking part in a community to enhance and broaden your perspective.
As such, our supervision offerings combine written and video content, live practice sessions, a cohort experience, and a community of practice.
If you haven’t taken any supervisor training previously, we recommend that you start with the Supervision Certificate as a pre-requisite for this program. Learn more and register for the Supervision Certificate Program.
How It Works
This certificate program takes place over the course of 3 months and involves both live and asynchronous components. By registering for this cohort, you’ll gain access to:
- Two coffee chats to network and learn in community with fellow supervisors.
- Six asynchronous courses to build your expertise in different aspects of supervision.
- A reflection assignment to earn your badge.
We’ll send emails regularly with suggestions for how to navigate the course, but you are also welcome to explore at your own pace. Below, you’ll find how to access different parts of your experience.
Coffee Chats
Twice during your cohort, you’ll have a chance to meet with fellow supervisors to network and discuss what you’re learning. These coffee chats are optional, but we encourage attendance if you’re able to do so. We find that learning requires practice, reflection, and feedback, and these coffee chats will help you to get feedback from others in your role and practice what you’ve learned. You’ll receive an email reminder before each coffee chat, and you can find how to join us live by using the Join the Meeting button here or in the My Upcoming Live Events section of your Academic Impressions account.
- Friday, April 10 |12:30 – 1:00 p.m. ET
- Friday, May 8 | 12:30 – 1:00 p.m. ET
Asynchronous Courses
Once you’ve registered for your cohort, you’ll be enrolled in six asynchronous courses. You can find those courses in the My Trainings Library section of your Academic Impressions account or navigate to them using the links below. We’ll send regular email suggestions for how to navigate the course, but you can also pick and choose what makes the most sense for you!
- Creating a Supervision Philosophy
- Self-Care as a Supervisor
- Coaching Skills for Supervisors
- Building High Expectations with High Support
- Building Accountability on Your Team
- Supporting Neurodiverse Employees
Over the course of the cohort, we’ll invite you to complete the courses you want. Each course also comes with a short summary of tips and reflection questions if you’re unable to engage with the full course. Once your cohort has ended, you’ll be able to return to these courses as often as you’d like using the My Trainings Library section of your Academic Impressions account.
Reflection Assignment and Badge
To earn your badge at the end of your experience, you’ll need to complete a short reflection assignment. We’ll ask you to share briefly how you’ve been able to incorporate what you’ve learned and how you plan to do so in the future. You can find the reflection assignment linked below and in your My Trainings Library of your Academic Impressions account.
Once you have completed it, you’ll automatically receive your digital badge certifying that you have participated in the Advanced Supervision Certificate program! The only requirement for receiving this badge is completing this reflection assignment, and you may do so at any time after enrolling in the program, including after your cohort has ended.
Who Will Benefit
This program is designed for supervisors at any level and in any role in higher education. However, if you’ve never had any supervisor training, we recommend that you complete the Supervision Certificate as a pre-requisite for this program.
